An ionospheric-sounding experiment from an aircraft was conducted on the
Alma-Ata - Osh - Andizhan route in Nov. 1989. The parameters of the
ionosphere were found to change during the passage of the aircraft from
over steppe to over mountains. Conclusions as to the anisotropy of the
D-region are drawn.
