Using an echelle spectrograph and a linear detector the authors obtained high resolution (R ≈ 2×104) spectrograms of the two strong-emission line T Tauri stars S CrA and VV CrA. From these spectrograms they derive the basic properties of the different types of emission lines and of the photospheric absorption spectra of these two examples of, respectively, the {YY Ori} and the {P Cyg} subgroup of the strong-emission-line T Tauri stars. In spite of some distinct spectral differences it appears possible to explain the emission line spectra of both types of T Tauri stars with the same basic physical model seen under different inclination angles.
