A high performance, W-band 2nd harmonic Gunn oscillator has been developed. Using a common waveguide cavity, designed for both the fundamental and the 2nd harmonic frequency, this oscillator is easily backshort and varactor tunable. The VCO has high frequency, great output power, and pure spectrum. It has been used in 2.6 mm wave bend phase-lock local system of large millimeter wave radio telescope of Purple Mountain Observatory.
