An iterative algorithm for the solution of maximum entropy problems containing a χ2-constraint is presented. Convergence and high accuracy are certain even for "tough cases". Applications are discussed with respect to the maximum entropy image restoration approach suggested by Gull and Daniell. Computational results for a series of test cases and for image restoration of scanning experiments in the field of infrared astronomy are given.
