A jet of material has been discovered emerging from an ionized knot in the core of NGC 3603 with a relative velocity of ≡110 km s-1. The central OB cluster is not thought to be the energy source of this phenomenon even though the knot lies on the edge of the wind-driven bubble surrounding the cluster. Instead a wind-producing star embedded in the nearby infrared source IRS1 is considered a more likely candidate. The presence of an energy source within the knot itself, however, is also a possibility.
