A gravitational-field equation defined in the space of 3-metrics is proposed for describing the state of a quantum gravitational system. The degree of universality of the method used to obtain the equation is considered. It is concluded that the differential gravitational-field equation obtained cannot be solved by a local integral and that the solution of this equation will probably require integration in functional space (i.e., so-called superspace).
