In order to increase departmental awareness of educational issues, as well as improve the quality of teaching, we have piloted a new 1-credit graduate seminar on teaching astronomy. We have relied on materials from workshops presented by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific and by the AAS Education Office. In addition, we collected other resources for this course which may be useful to anyone interesting in developing a similar program. Topics addressed in this course include: components of effective teaching, common ways to discourage learning, different learning styles, lecturing in a large class, collaborative learning, dealing with math phobic students, assessment techniques, effective demonstrations, using the internet, and creating a teaching portfolio. Suggestions for implementing such a class will be presented. Our class syllabus and links to relevant material is available at http://lyra.colorado.edu/sbo/katy/seminar/aps6000.html
