The gravitational field of a point/mass with arbitrary acceleration and charge is investigated analytically, generalizing the metric developed by Vaidya (1951) and expanded by Kinnersley (1969) to obtain a metric comprising five arbitrary time functions and having wide applicability. The formulation of Newman and Penrose (1962) is used for the field equations, and the metric derived is shown to reduce to a Reissner-Nordstroem metric in a particular case.
