The requirements for efficient fibre-fed multi-object spectroscopy are discussed, namely a telescope field corrector giving good imagery over a wide field, with atmospheric dispersion correction and telecentric illumination, combined in a simple optical system. Two examples are given of such designs, one for a Cassegrain and one for a Ritchey-Chrétien telescope. Each covers a field of 1°.5 diameter, and consists of four spherical-surfaced thin lenses (six air-glass surfaces). These correctors have been designed for a projected 4-m telescope.
