The Fokker-Planck model is used in an attempt to determine the steady
state population of nonthermal electrons in a flaring coronal loop. The
electron precipitation rate and the ratio of footprint to coronal hard
X-ray emission are obtained numerically. The apparent absence of large
Doppler shifts in soft X-ray line spectra is examined in detail.
