An analysis of the spatial distribution of counts in the 1-3 keV energy band has been carried out for several deep Einstein Observatory IPC fields. A surface density of 18 sources/sq deg at the Deep Survey limit of 0.001 count/s, similar to that found directly by Giacconi et al. (1979), is confirmed and its uncertainty reduced. In agreement with previous work by Hamilton and Helfand (1987) evidence is found for a break in the source number-flux relation at a flux level a few times below the Deep Survey limit. Sources similar to those contributing to the present analysis produce only about 35-45 percent of the X-ray background in the 1-3 keV energy band.
