A number of lunar flashes or transient lunar phenomena have been recorded. The latest observation was made in 1985 by a Greek astronomer who, together with colleagues at the University of Thessaloniki, concluded the flash was caused by a discharge close to the lunar surface. American astronomers have since proposed the flash was caused by satellite glint. Here the Greek astronomers give a preview of their paper refuting this theory.
