The results of studies of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and, in particular, laboratory investigations related to this area can be an aid for an understanding of processes in other areas of physics. The present investigation is concerned with an application of the results of MHD-related studies on earth to processes taking place in the solar atmosphere. The mechanism of interaction between a magnetic field and a conducting medium is considered, taking into account the study of such a mechanism in MHD machines and effects leading to unstable conditions in the solar atmosphere. It is pointed out, however, that an application of the results obtained in a laboratory on earth to solar processes presents great problems in connection with vast differences between solar and laboratory conditions. Particular attention is given to velocity relations of motions of solar plasma and the various factors which determine these relations.
