Spectral, photometric and polarimetric observations of a VV Cephei-like system in the Puppis region are reported. Spectrograms taken with an image-tube spectrograph in the ranges 3800-4800 and 5800-7200 A are used to obtain a spectral type of M2 Iab plus B1 V for the entire system composed of red and blue components. Color indices derived from UBV photometry are compared with composite theoretical color indices in order to derive an estimated color excess of 0.30 in magnitude, which is compared with the results of unfiltered polarimetry with a fast rotating polarimeter to yield a distance of 11 kpc from the sun. It is pointed out that the short age of VV Cephei systems implied by their large masses suggests that the present system may belong to a young association in a distant spiral feature.
