A far red spectrum (6000-10,000 Å) of Nova LMC 1981 has been obtained at a phase roughly 70 d after presumed maximum. The prominent lines seen are the Paschen series of hydrogen, He I 7065 Å and O I 8446 Å. Comparison with similar spectra of several Galactic Novae shows that we are dealing with a fast nova probably just entering the nebular phase. A striking resemblance exists with Nova Cyg 1975, 72 d after maximum, with the notable exception of the [O II] lines absent in Nova LMC.
