We have detected a faint, luminous halo around the edge-on spiral galaxy NGC 5907. This halo, with a volume luminosity density that falls as r-2.3+/-0.2, is less centrally concentrated than any previously known luminous component of a spiral galaxy. The power-law exponent suggests a possible relationship with NGC 5907's dark matter halo. In fact, the profile of light from this luminous halo is consistent with the distribution of dark mass inferred from the galaxy's rotation curve.
