An evolutionary model of PU Vul (Kuwano-Honda object) is proposed. It is shown that the deep minimum in the light curve observed in 1980 - 1981 may be caused by detachment of a dusty envelope. Dynamics and infrared spectra of outgoing radiation of the envelope are studied numerically. The results imply essential nonsphericity of the envelope. Observed excess of a blue light at the minimum may be interpreted as a result of shock wave energy dissipation.
