A type of dual frequency multi-channel GPS receiver, NTSCGPS-2, developed at the National Time Service Center, the Chinese Academy of Sciences for the project the research on Establishing and Maintaining the Joint Atomic Time System of China, not only has the function of remote time comparison but also has the function of local clock comparison and accurate positioning, meeting the needs of JATC without adding other device. The performance and characteristic of the receiver NTSCGPS-2 are as follows: (1) It can measure the ionospheric delay in real time via dual-frequency observation; (2) The precision of the time comparison between remote clocks is better than 2 ns (for the baselines of Xi'an-Shanghai and Xi'an-Macao; (3) It can make the time comparison between local clocks inside the same laboratory. Both the common view observation and the time comparison between two local clocks can be conducted at the same time; (4) It can make precise positioning with a relative positioning precision of 5 cm.
