A stable self-consistent mathematical model is developed for a barred spiral galaxy. The model comprises an extended spherical halo, a bar-shaped cloud of massless particles, and two point nuclei situated on the major axis of the bar. A possible evolutionary scheme for barred spirals is briefly outlined. It is shown that the nuclei travel in a circular orbit that is concentric with the halo and that the motion of the particles in the bar-shaped cloud is stable in the sense of Hill.
