The simple tangent arm is rarely used for driving a telescope due to a rapid loss of accuracy with time. However using a second arm to drive the true tangent arm can theoretically give phenomenal accuracy for at least three hours of continuous following. This paper briefly describes the theory and construction of such a two arm mechanism which has proved to be very satisfactory in practice.
