The ESCC Specification System is superseding the existing ESA/SCC System. It will initially comprise 50,000 pages of specifications requiring support and change over a 20+ year period. A vendor independent editing system has been developed to avoid future software obsolescence and corresponding conversion costs. This system is based on Standard Generalised Mark-up Language (SGML) and the reuse of document components.
