VBLUW photometry of the G0 Ia supergiant, with a characteristic time 0f 125d, V 810 Cen ( = HD 101947) is presented. These observations coincide with those of Eichendorf and Reipurth (1979) made in the uvby system. The reason to incorporate a discussion on two other variable cool supergiants with long characteristic times viz: Tr. 27-102 (= HD 159378) a G0 Ia star and the F 51 companion of the eclipsing binary BL Tel (both also with known VBLUW photometry), is their presence in or near the Cepheid instability strip. V 810 Cen and Tr. 27-102 are likely binaries with blue evolved companions in view of their peculiar colours. Assuming normal early G supergiant colours for both, the photometric data of both the components could be estimated. With the aid of theoretical two-colour diagrams, values for Teff and log g could be estimated for the program stars and the hypothetical blue companions. The position of the three variables in the theoretical HR diagram with respect to their presence in or near the Cepheid strip is discussed. Arguments are put forward that they are likely no Cepheids and certainly not similar to the long-period Cepheids of the Magellanic Clouds.
