Yakimova (1970) concluded that at a given period, Cepheid amplitudes increase toward the red edge of the instability strip; Sandage and Tammann (1971) found that in a restricted period range, the amplitudes increase toward the blue edge. An analysis is performed to determine possible causes of the discrepancy between the two results, with differences in both the data and the approaches used examined. It is shown that if only Cepheids in the Galaxy are considered and if the Cepheid colors at maximum light are taken into account, the Cepheid amplitudes increase from the blue to the red edge of the instability strip, even with the data of Sandage and Tammann. The discrepancy is attributed to specific differences in the methods of analysis employed.
