Radio astronomical receivers are spectral analyzing devices capable to resolve the acquired signal in terms of time and frequency resolution. For fast fluctuating radio bursts, like Jovian S-bursts these receivers suffer from their low spectral resolution. Further on, phasing information is generally not contained in common spectral analysis. The development of the so-called waveform receiver (WFR) is an attempt to go one step further and be able to make statements on S-Burst substructures. By capturing the waveform rather than the derivated dynamic spectrum, post processing methods allow various methods of detailed signal substructure analysis. Especially the method of wavelet transformation turns out to be very effective, when dealing with intrinsic signal information.
