The so-called 'twins paradox' in special relativity arises out of a confusion between clock rates and clock readings. However, to resolve the paradox properly, one has to recognize not only that the traveling twin uses two coordinate systems. One must also note that the Lorentz transformation between the coordinate system on the way back and the earth-bound twin's system (x, t) is not of the usual form given in texts but contains constants pertaining to the coordinates at the turnaround. A diagram is given showing how differential aging obtains while the relative clock rates are symmetrical throughout.
