A disconnection event occurred in the plasma tail of Comet Halley on March 8, 1986. The aberration angle of the new main tail differed from that of the old one. The old and new apparent aberration angles on large scale photographs are determined using a photometric method and a transformation formula is given. With this formula the actual aberration angles are found.
