Evolved starts are thought to be an important source of material reprocessing in the galaxy. As such, an accurate determination of their mass loss rates is essential. Previously, simple models (e.g. Hawkins) for the infrared emission due to outflowing dust around W Hydrae have suggested a significantly non-constant mass loss rate with time. In this paper, we construct a detailed model for the dust emission for this source. We find that the mass loss rate can be well-constrained, and is lower than previous models have suggested.
