We observed the H I filament LVC88 + 36-2 with the ROSAT X-ray telescope and the position sensitive proportional counter in pointing mode. A clear anticorrelation of the H I column density distribution of the filament with the soft X-ray background counts was detected. Down to energies of 100 eV shadowing of about 40 percent was found. The X-ray data give evidence that LVC88 + 36-2 is located within the Local Hot Bubble at a distance of 62 +/- 21 pc. Therefore we find an intermixture of cold dense matter at a pressure higher than 10 exp 4 K/cu cm with a hot X-ray emitting plasma in the LHB. Additionally we find evidence for a luminous soft X-ray source behind the galactic H I layer.
