We propose to perform a 50~ks observation of the pulsar-wind nebula G54.1+0.3. Main goals of this project are: 1. to get the deepest map ever produced for this object, in order to detect also its outer and fainter regions; 2. to model its dust scattering halo, in order to subtract it from the data (this will allow us to use more effectively also already available Chandra data); 3. to generate, after halo subtraction, a spectral map of the intrinsic emission from this source, in order to investigate the evolution of synchrotron-emitting electrons and to better constrain numerical models; 4. to search for a shell-type component associated with G54.1+0.3, in order to get independent estimates of the age of the remnant as well as of the ambient density.
