We present a deep VLA search at 20 cm for the radio counterpart to the X-ray pulsar 1E2259 +586. The search failed to detect any object within either the existing X-ray error circles or the new ROSAT HRI position. The 3(3 upper limit set by these observations of 50 tJy is approximately 4 times fainter than previous radio measurements. The implications of this null result are discussed. Key words: pulsars: individual: 1E2259 +586 - supernova remnants - radio continuum: stars - X-rays: stars.
