VLA observations of 274 5C12 radio sources are presented, providing positions accurate enough to permit identifications with optical images down to v of about 23 mag. It is found that the b-v and v-r colors of most of the stellar identifications are typical of QSO colors, that two of the identifications are optically variable, and that one-third of the identifications have flat radio spectra. Red extended image data reveal similar photometric properties to galaxies hosting many 3CR sources. The data suggest membership in groups and clusters. Seven galaxies with v of less than 22 are found to have colors bluer than those expected for redshifted giant elliptical galaxies.
