COSMOS measures of POSS and recent UKSTU red photographic Schmidt plates are used to produce a deep proper motion survey of the Pleiades open cluster. Follow-up infrared photometry of a small sample of candidate low-mass stars and brown dwarfs is presented. In addition to producing a deep luminosity function and mass function, a number of very interesting low-luminosity stars are found and a comparison is made with recent theoretical predictions and observations of very low-mass stars and brown dwarfs.
