We report on the initial results from our deep 120 ks Chandra observation of the supernova remnant (SNR) N49 in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Using the high resolution ACIS data obtained with a deep exposure and on-axis pointing, we convincingly detect the ejecta ``bullet'' (reminiscent of the ``shrapnels'' found in the Vela SNR) and its bow-shock-like feature beyond the southwestern boundary of the SNR, which has been suggested by our previous observations, but at lower photon statistics and angular resolution. The X-ray spectrum of the bullet is distinguished from those of the main SNR shell regions, showing enhanced Ne, Si, and S lines and the hot electron temperature. The bow-shock-like feature also shows a significantly higher plasma temperature (kT 2 keV) than that of the main SNR shell (kT 0.6 keV). The bow-shock of this fast-moving ejecta fragment (an average v 1600 km/s for the age of 6600 yr) roughly points back toward the SGR 0526-66, but the extrapolation of the tail is off the geometrical center of the SNR by 10". We also detect spectral features similar to that of the bullet in the bright eastern shell. We discuss preliminary results on several characteristic regions including these ejecta features.
