A deep color-magnitude analysis is presented for a background field within the Virgo Cluster located roughly halfway between M87 and M49 and chosen explicitly to be at least 2 deg away from any of the larger Virgo member galaxies. Luminosity functions in B and V and a color-magnitude diagram for an area of 80 sq arcmin are derived and briefly discussed. It is found that for V greater than 20 and B greater than 21, the integral luminosity function is dominated by faint galaxies and has a slope of 0.4. Most of the galaxies are red (B - V greater than 1.0) but a definite 'blue' component (B - V less than 0.4) appears for V greater than 22.
