Pre-Main-Sequence Stars: Stellar Evolution, Population I Stars: Stellar Evolution
Scientific paper
A set of pre-main sequence evolutionary tracks for Pop. I stars in the mass range 0.4 < M < 1.2 Msun has been computed and compared to the results obtained by other authors. Some of the physical inputs have then been changed, and some tracks recomputed, to gain indications about the order of magnitude of the "theoretical error box" still affecting models of this kind. The main results show that better physical inputs will probably give rise to cooler evolutionary tracks along the Hayashi line, so that the current comparisons of observations with the available models are likely to provide larger than real values for both masses and ages.
