A criterion for the occurrence of double-mode pulsations is derived from
linear adiabatic coupling coefficients. The criterion indicates that
double-mode pulsations of classical Cepheids occur at a shorter period
range than the observed one, and that the evolutionary mass models are
preferable for the double-mode pulsations.
