Volume three of a multivolume document is presented and consist of two parts. The first is devoted to the theory of attraction of stationary masses, the fundamental properties of the potential and spherical functions are treated. The attraction of the ellipsoidal bodies is studied in detail. The second part considers the general properties of the figures of equilibrium of fluid masses. The fundamentals of the theory of figures of equilibrium of a homogeneous incompressible fluid are given. A considerable amount of attention is given to the figures of equilibrium, deformed by the attraction of external bodies. Most of the attention is given to the figures of equilibrium of nonhomogeneous fluid bodies, the theory of figures of the planets.
