It is shown that knowledge of the local space density of quasar remnants leads to a powerful cosmological test. A plausible identification of quasar remnants and a measure of their local space density are proposed. Local BL Lac objects are assumed to be a subset of local quasar remnants beamed in our direction. Tentative values of q0 are derived.
