We report sufficient conditions on a switching signal that guarantee that the solution of a switched linear system converges asymptotically to zero. These conditions apply to continuous, discrete-time and hybrid switched linear systems, with either entirely stable subsystems or a mixture of stable and unstable subsystems. The conditions are general enough to allow engineers to design switching signals that make switched systems controllable.
