Observation data on O and B stars given by Lesh (1968, 1972) are used to investigate the velocity field of 818 stars within 2000 pc of the sun. An attempt was made to separate the Gould Belt from the galactic belt and to determine the parameters of the velocity field in both belts. The findings indicate that within the Gould Belt the young stars form a local irregularity of the velocity field that arises from the superposition of the motion of different local groups of young stars (in the present case, of stars belonging to the regions of the Orion and Scorpius-Ophiuchus). It is suggested that the K-term in the motions of the Lesh stars might not be a consequence of the expansion but of diverging motions of discrete nearby groups of stars.
