In order to shed some light on the possibility of a connection between the Perseus-Pisces supercluster and the A 569 cluster through the zone of avoidance of the Galaxy, H I and optical observations of galaxies have been carried out in the region. Forty-two redshifts have been measured, among which 21 for the first time in the possible connection zone. The study of the H I contents of the galaxies detected in the 21-cm line shows they are perfectly normal; as a by-product of this study, the UGC magnitudes are found to be high by more than one magnitude for m/(UGC) greater than or equal to 17.
