Results are presented on the petrographic and chemical characterization of an unusual calcium aluminate found in the E66A high-melting inclusion of the Efremovka chondrite, which shows a composition intermediate between the CaAl12O19 and the CaAl4O7 phases. Possible mechanisms involved in the genesis of calcium aluminates in high-temperature inclusions of carbonaceous chondrites are discussed.
