We report on our search for Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) in a large, well-defined, and minimally-biased sample of galaxies. This is part of a campaign to better understand relationships between ULXs and their environments. The sample selection criteria will be described and a preliminary population census (number counts, luminosity functions, spatial distributions, and correlations with galaxy properties) will be presented.
