A compilation of log gf values for selected transitions of Fe II is presented. The extensive semiempirical calculations of Kurucz and Peytremann are compared with existing laboratory measurements and with oscillator strengths for 55 transitions derived from a model atmosphere analysis of the solar spectrum. The Kurucz and Peytremann values are found to be generally accurate for lines which are allowed in LS coupling as electric-dipole transitions but are systematically too small for many transitions which are forbidden in LS coupling. In some cases, errors of 5 or more in the log are present in the Kurucz and Peytremann oscillator strengths.
