The position angles of the major axes of elliptical galaxies are compared with the position angles of the associated double radio sources for a sample of 15 galaxies; in each case, the galaxy is centrally located with respect to the radio components. The distribution of the absolute difference between the radio and optical position angles is most simply interpreted as arising from ejection of the radio components in random directions with respect to the distribution of light. Besides the random-ejection hypothesis, the distribution is statistically consistent with only the gravitational slingshot model provided the galaxies are oblate rotators. If galaxies are prolate rotators, the distribution is inconsistent with magnetohydrodynamic models which predict ejection along the axis of rotation. The present data support the measurements of Gibson (1975), but differ from those of Mackay (1971) and Bridle and Brandie (1973).
