Mean rate values were computed for photographic Taurid, Geminid and contemporaneously active sporadic meteors during the years 1982-1991 inclusive. In the period under study photographic Taurid and sporadic rates were found to be similar, with the exception of 1988 when bright Taurid activity was unusually high. Photographic Geminid rates during the period were significantly higher than Taurid and sporadic rates. Examination of earlier photographic observations suggests that bright Taurids may have been more plentiful in the first half of this century.
