The entropy of the matter constituting a star that collapses into a Schwarzschild black hole and the entropy of the resulting black hole are computed for three possible modes of collapse. The three modes considered are the kernel mode, the simultaneous-collapse mode, and the large-black-hole mode. For all three modes, it is found that the entropy of the matter is proportional to the 3/2 power of the mass, that the ratio of the entropies of the black hole and the matter for a black hole of one solar mass is of the order of 10 to the 19th, and that the lower limit on the mass of a black hole is of the order of the Planck mass. It is concluded that the entropy of a black hole may include some components in addition to the entropy of the matter forming the object.
