To improve both the spectral- and the time-resolution of the high resolution satellite pictures used for classification, it is important to examine, how can be used together the pictures of different satellites. A case-study has been carried out to compare the applicability for classification of a Cosmos-1939 MSU-E, MOS-1 MESSR and LANDSAT-5 MSS image. It has been found, that the MESSR and the MSS are more similar to each other, so they are more applicable for combined use. The applications of the MSU-E for such purposes requires more procedures to carry out.
