The classification of galaxies by morphological type is an important problem of astrophysics. In the paper the authors propose a new methodology for automating this problem. They present a dynamic network which merges three separate technologies: statistical model fitting, from astronomy; syntactic descriptors, from pattern recognition; and synthetic human judgement, from descriptive psychology
