An area of about 450 sq deg in the Ophiuchus molecular cloud complex was mapped in the J = 1 - 0 line of (C-12)O. The survey shows that the clouds are very filamentary, with lengths up to 25 pc and widths as little as 2 pc. Five different cloud complexes separated in position and velocity are identified and catalogued. Upper limits of 140 pc and 153 pc are derived for two of the complexes and 130 pc for another. The mass of the separate clouds is determined, and the total mass of the region is found to be 9000 solar. Estimates of the virial mass are about an order of magnitude higher. Two elongated complexes and a string of clouds in another complex all point in the direction of the Upper Scorpius OB association.
